What Is Butterfly Valve?

The butterfly valve is a quarter-turn rotary valve. The valve plate rotates 90 degrees around the valve stem to open or close the valve. Used to connect, stop and adjust the flow. Since the valve plate only needs to be rotated 90 degrees from fully open to fully closed, the operation of the butterfly valve is very simple and fast.

Butterfly valves are very suitable for HVAC, ventilation ducts, paper and pulp, food and beverage, irrigation, power plant and so on.

How COVNA Butterfly Valve Works?

When we turn the handle or the turbine, the valve plate will also rotate until the valve plate rotates to be parallel to the pipeline, the valve is fully opened and the medium can be completely circulated. Butterfly valve can also achieve throttling effect, this is that we only need to turn the handle or turbine to open the valve plate to a certain angle, so as to achieve the purpose of throttling.

When the size of the butterfly valve is large, we will recommend to install an electric actuator or a pneumatic actuator, allowing you to drive the butterfly valve by voltage or air pressure to achieve remote control, which will save you time and effort.

Advantages Of COVNA Butterfly Valves

Compared with ball valves, gate valves and globe valves, butterfly valves have obvious advantages

  • The butterfly valve can be customized and made into a large size, suitable for all kinds of large pipelines
  • The butterfly valve is small in size and light in weight, saving installation space
  • The butterfly valve has fewer parts, low maintenance costs, and simple operation
  • Compared with ball valves, butterfly valves can be used for suspended solids or viscous slurries, but they must be cleaned in time
  • The butterfly valve can be customized into a hard-sealed butterfly valve for use in high temperature and high pressure industries
  • In addition to manual control, the butterfly valve can also be controlled electrically or pneumatically to meet your needs in different working conditions

Disadvantages Of Butterfly Valves

Although the butterfly valve can be used for mud, slurry, or medium with suspended solids, we recommend that the valve should be cleaned regularly with clean water. Otherwise, it will be blocked, causing the valve to not be fully opened or closed.

In fact, this recommendation applies to all valves.
