How Butterfly Valve Works

Butterfly valves are one of the most commonly used industrial valves at present. The butterfly valve and the ball valve belong to the quarter-turn valves series. We only need to turn the valve stem a quarter turn, and the disc will rotate 90 degrees around the valve stem to open or close the valve.

Butterfly valves have a wide range of size from  2″ to 72″, so it is very suitable for use on large-size pipes. Such as HVAC, power plants, energy industry, oil and gas, wastewater treatment, paper and pulp, cement plants, etc.

According to the design type, the butterfly valve can be divided into single eccentric type, double eccentric type and triple eccentric type to meet your different pressure and temperature requirements.

According to the connection method, the butterfly valve can be made into a wafer type, lug type, flange type or clamp type to meet different pipeline connection requirements.

In addition, according to the seals, butterfly valves can be divided into soft-sealed butterfly valves and hard-sealed butterfly valves, which are suitable for different types of media.

Butterfly valve can be handle control type, wheel control type, electric control type or pneumatic control type, allowing you to control locally or remotely.

Body: Butterfly valve body is used to wrap and protect the internal parts. The valve body can be made of stainless steel, carbon steel, cast iron, or plastic to meet different needs. The edge of the valve body is used to connect the pipeline, there are wafer type, flange type, lug type and clamp type.

Valve plate: The valve plate is used to allow flow and shut off the medium. When the valve is closed, the valve plate is perpendicular to the medium. When the valve is opened, the disc is parallel to the medium, and the medium flows naturally.
In addition, the disc can be partially opened or closed, allowing a certain amount of medium to transport, thereby regulating the flow rate.
The disc can be made of stainless steel, cast iron and plastic materials.

Actuation: COVNA butterfly valve is an ISO5211 standard connecting plate, which can be driven by a handle, wheel, or actuator.
Helping you to control remotely and make your flow control easier.
