5 Common Faults Of Pneumatic Actuator Ball Valve And The Treatment Methods

The fault processing speed and accuracy of pneumatic actuator ball valve determine the extent of production equipment affected, maintenance personnel’s responsibility is to quickly and accurately determine and deal with the fault site, so as to minimize the production affected losses.

The principle of troubleshooting is AALSC Rule. After arriving at the scene, first ask and then look at, start the valve, and check it out.

The order of troubleshooting is: firstly, check the external circuit, air circuit, accessories (solenoid valve, air filter and pressure reducer, etc.), then check the pneumatic actuator Final inspection of the valve body.

Here are a few cases of pneumatic actuator ball valve failure:

1. Actuator Doesn’t Work

1) Check whether the air source pressure of the air filter pressure reducer has reached the rated value, adjust the air source pressure or replace the air filter pressure reducer according to the situation.

2) Check whether the solenoid valve is plugged, whether the air change is normal, according to the situation to clean up the plug or replace the solenoid valve.

3) Check whether the air source pressure into the actuator has reached the rated value, check whether the speed controller is plugged or not.

4) Check whether the friction of the valve sealing parts is too large, or whether the seal ring has gas leakage.

2. Actuator Work, But Not Enough Torque.

Check the adjusting bolts at both ends of the cylinder, adjust to the closing condition, and lock to the proper position.

Pneumatic Ball Valve can be opened or closed, but the action is slow when it is opened or closed.

Check if the speed controller needs to be adjusted before entering the actuator because changes in the process piping and the valve itself require adjustments to the speed controller as the valve ages.

1) Check for air leakage in the cylinder and damage to the o-ring in the cylinder can cause the valve to slow down.

2) Check for reduced thrust in the spring.

3) Check for sensitivity in the cylinder Outlet Lock Valve Action and normal cylinder exhaust.

4. The Actuator Action Is Normal, But The Valve Doesn’t Open.

1) The valve core and the valve seat are stuck.

2) The pipeline is blocked.

3) The actuator and the valve core joint wear, fall off and so on.

5. The Actuator Action Is Normal, But The Valve Switch Cannot Be In Place.

1) There is a foreign body in the Pipeline Plug Valve.

2) Medium pressure difference is too large, the actuator rigidity is small, the valve is not strict.

3) The Valve Body itself failure caused: If for the ball valve, generally for the sealing surface damage or stuffing box leakage. If for lined fluorine or lined rubber butterfly valve, generally lined fluorine or rubber deformation. If for the diaphragm valve, generally for rubber diaphragm damage. If for the gate valve, it may be the sealing surface scratch or transmission parts blocked, wear, rust.
